Unleashes Another Lethal Contest Season
For More Information Contact: Angela Brown (SLUG Magazine):801.487.9221
SLUG Magazine's Summer of Death Skate Series is a year older and a year wiser - six years old this year. The first SOD skate competition will be held Saturday June 24th at OGIO's private skate park in Draper located at 14926 Pony Express Road, Bluffdale, UT.
The format is a mini ramp comp followed by best trick on OGIO's new street course featuring rails built by KAB's (Kick Ass Builders) Jared Winkler. OGIO's mini ramp was procured from Brock Harris of Binary Skateboards. Sponsorships cost $100 and include your logo being represented on the registration forms, flyers and posters for the event, prize packs that include your product.
The skate competition will be held from 3pm to 6pm. Celebrity judges and local heros Adam Dyet and Lizard King will judge the best overall performance for the mini-ramp while an undisclosed skater will judge best trick. Hamburgers and hotdogs, a bonafide BBQ will be held on the park premises. Adam Dyet will be doing a skate trick demo as he is launched from an incredibly high ramp into a mountain of foam.
About SLUG Mag's Summer of Death Skate Series:
The Summer of Death Skate Series first birthed competition in 2000. Judging, photographing, filming, designing special courses, and building new ideas - SOD has kept our staff busy. In previous incarnations of SOD, SLUG has built a temporary mini ramp inside a dance club for one night of invite-only skating, sent amateur winners to compete in the Tampa AM and shipped-off groms to attend Woodward Skate Camp. We have helped cultivate the talent of locals in the skateboard community including Holland Reed, Tyson Bowerbank, Oliver Buchannan, Lil' Brandon, Mike Plumb and many other Utah favorites. 2006 brings a new contest format by lifting dates away from public skateparks and condensing SOD's schedule from five to two dates.
