About SLUG Mag's Summer of Death Skate Series
The Summer of Death Skate Series first birthed competition in 2000. Judging, photographing, filming, designing special courses and building new ideas - SOD has kept our staff busy.
In previous incarnations of SOD, SLUG has built a temporary mini ramp inside a dance club for one night of invite-only skating, sent amateur winners to compete in the Tampa AM and shipped-off groms to attend Woodward Skate Camp. We have helped cultivate the talent of locals in the skateboard community including Holland Reed, Tyson Bowerbank, Oliver Buchannan, Lil' Brandon, Mike Plumb and many other Utah favorites.
2007 brings a new contest format by lifting dates away from public skateparks and condensing SOD's schedule from five to two dates. You can check out what we are currently up to at: summerofdeath.com or myspace.com/summerofdeath.
