SALT LAKE CITY, July 28, 2008 – Although school is still out, it doesn’t mean you can’t get put in detention. All you skateboarding delinquents lookout––SLUG is taking away your hall pass and declaring you detained for our next contest––The SLUG Summer Detention!
SLUG Summer Detention will be held on August 23rd at 5:30 pm. This time around we’re taking the contest to the streets. Lace up your gnar boots kiddies because this comp won’t feature any curb slappies or flat ground. Spots in the comp are limited so pick up a registration pack at a participating shop ASAP. All locations will remain secret until days before the comp. This one is sure to be spontaneous, dangerous and tons of fun.

SLUG Magazine presents the 8th Annual Summer of Death - The Ghettolympics on Saturday, July 19th in the Big Deluxe Parking Lot.
SALT LAKE CITY, June 30, 2008 - No, that's not the Chariots of Fire that you're hearing, it's the inspiring sounds of the first Summer Of Death contest for 2008 from SLUG Mag. The Torch will be lit on Saturday, July 19th at 3 p.m. Although SLUG Mag will not be performing tests for performance enhancing drugs before or during the event, we strongly suggest you stay off the juice for this one.
The Ghettolympics will feature events like the hippie high jump, the triple jump, synchronize skating and the quest to see who has the longest power slide. The course set up was designed and built by our Summer of Death planning crew. Registration for the Ghettolympics will be from 2 p.m - 3 p.m. in the Sears parking lot next to Big Deluxe on 730 S. State St. The comp will begin at 3 p.m.
